Album review: Café Atlantico

I dedicate this review to members of the Only Solitaire group. Café Atlantico 1999 This is a kind of album, which encourages me to keep spending time on music. This is not rock, nor pop music. This is simply a marvelous experience, which I accidentaly met at some stage of my life. It makes me wonder about music in general - how many more albums like this are waiting for me, may never to be discovered. In a nutshell, Café Atlantico is suggested to be seen as a perfect album. This is neither the first, nor the last album by Cesaria Evora, but it seems so special. I don't know how to describe it. Cesaria is the phenomenon in her own league, and all I can do, is to recommend you listening to this stuff. I describe this music as very sentimental, being at the same utterly enjoyable. What I dearly love about it is the feel of truthfulness, which waves its way through each of songs. This album is similar to a realistic, life-affecting novel. Don't get me wrong, I do not speak Portugese, the magic is implied here by the mood of music. And speaking of which, the arangments are the second best (after Cesaria's singing - what a voice!) thing on this record. I mean, instruments are making accompaniaments in such a lively manner with an incredible ease, that it clearly stands for virtuosity of players. It took over eighty (!) people to record and produce this album, but most amaizingly I am unable to hear this. This album sounds like it would have been recorded live in some small cape verdean cafe, yesterday. Basicaly, this is it. I wanted to get over this review as quick as possoble, cause there is not much to confabulate about. Café Atlantico is a masterpiece, not only of its kind, but of all music, in general. And buy it, yeah buy it today! World will be a better place with you having some morna music proudly standing on a shelf.  P.S. Full album here
